Christmas Holidays

Well Christmas is upon us again !

After a busy year at work, I have flown up to Cairns for short break before the festive season is truly upon our door step...

After a few years since I have visited Graham and Verdi's house, the humidity is a real smack down!

Staying over for a week will prepare my liver for the Christmas break, but I must remember the day after I get home training locally will hurt so a few swims while in Cairns will keep me in shape, let's hope so any way.

Well the summer training has finally begun for me. Tuesday and Wednesday this week sore me start riding with Dave, Carlos, Tom and Al around Ipswich. It felt great to be out on the bike early in the morning with a good group of riders doing a few K's.

Tuesday morning was a nice roll out to Ripley and back we averaged about 29 k's an hr and 45 k for the morning. Wednesday morning 2nd morning out on the bike hurt though with a slightly low av and less k's but a lot higher intensity. Getting dropped and trying to make up the gap seamed to take forever, but thankfully a red light meant everyone needed to stop meaning I could catch up.

I was meant to ride out through Kolo this morning and on the dirt tonight but after a big week at work leading up to the holidays I decided a little sleep in was deserved so just a dirt ride today :-)

Well after 5 weeks straight of teaching 5 days a week, which i know does not sound to bad but consider for every hour in front of a class there is at least 30 min to 1 hour of preperation. So with about 4 weeks before I go on Holidays, I get a chance to sit and take a breath next week with only 3 classes.

The weekend is upon us :-)))) Which means riding time!

Looking forward to catching up with a few friends for a roll around mt nebo in the morning which will be great. It feels like I have not been on the MTB for months but in reality it has only been a few weeks.

Well after a bit of an upgrade, lets see if I can atleast ppost a bit more regurally.

The aim for the next few weeks is to start riding with the Yellow Jersey riders on Monday Wednesday and Fridays. The other days will be spent Swiming now it is starting to warm up. I will be posting all ride so this will allow me to at least monitor time spent on the bike a little bit better.

The hardest thing I have found since moving to Ipswich is find a people to ride with reguarly, If I know I have to meet someone for a ride in the morning I will get up. If it's just me I will sleep in. So getting up and riding is the first step to improvement in my fitness.

Well it's been a busy week. Two days in a conference this week has prevented an opportunity to ride for the rest of the week. Sitting inside this morning and early afternoon watching the rain fall down made me smile though, my vegetable garden would be loving it!

Walking into the state horticulture conference knowing I had a good chance in been voted in as the next chairperson made me feel a bit nervous. After trying to stage the elections yesterday and having no one accept a nomination, i knew I had to take on the role. So I am now the new Chairperson for the Horticultural Teaching and Learning Group for Queensland, Not a bad achievement after 4 years as member in the association.

The aims and goals I want to achieve have been stated now I just have to watch them fall into place!

I forgot all about this Blog until today when I posted a comment on a blog of a friend.

After finishing work for the day a short but enjoyable ride has reignited my desire to ride more. With great trails all around me there is no excuse good enough from now on!

My afternoons are looking bright.
